HOBART SUNRISE AND SUNETS TIMES

Hobart sunrise and sunset times explained

Have you ever wondered why so many photographers schedule their shoots around ‘golden hour’? Golden hour refers to that magical window of time just after sunrise or right before sunset. During this time the light is softer, more flattering and has a golden glow, making it the perfect time to capture beautiful photos! Obviously, this time varies from season to season, so this may impact when you decide to schedule your shoot (especially if you have young kids!).

Golden hour with little ones

Understandably, scheduling a photoshoot during golden hour may not always be convenient for families with young children, especially between the months of October - April when the days are longer.

However, there are a couple of things you can do to prepare for these sessions… trust me, the results are worth it.

  • For late golden hour shoots, prioritise rest and plan a late-afternoon nap so your little ones are refreshed and in good spirits for the session. Make sure you eat beforehand and pack some healthy snacks to keep them energized and happy during the shoot.

  • Dress your kids in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Layers work wonders, especially during cooler mornings or evenings. Consider bringing their favorite blankets or toys to keep them cozy and engaged.

  • Parents, take a breath and relax. Kids can sense stress, so remaining calm can go a long way in ensuring everyone enjoys the session.

Ps. If in doubt, schedule your shoot for Autumn/Winter, when the days are shorter!
